Why this petition matters

Started by Corrina Craig

Pagoda House was built in 1935 and sits at 528 Goldstream Avenue.  It was thought to have been an art studio, a Chinese Museum and a Japanese Consul over its time.

Unfortunately, it was rezoned for a six story condo building under the previous municipal government.

It was offered to be moved but apparently the cost is higher than usual because of the age of the structure, type of the structure it is and power lines around the building, but as we see with construction of a six storey building planned on the site, not impossible if the will is there to move this beautiful building.

I am proposing that new Mayor and Council consider not paying millions of dollars to move a power pole in Starlight Stadium to increase seating for a stadium that cannot support increased road capacity and parking.

Instead, use some of that money to move Pagoda House to a new municipal owned property with the intention to maintain its beautiful heritage and architecture and upgrade it to become a new and much needed and desired Community Centre and Youth Drop in Centre for our beautiful City.

A Community Centre will benefit the entire community not just elite level athletes.
