As stated on its website (at lacanadaflintridge.com), La Canada Flintridge is a community that values a low-key lifestyle centered around children and community. Fully one in every seven residents of our community of approximately 20,000 people is a child under the age of ten. It is the dream of every child to play in a treehouse that he or she call call their own, yet our municipal code is specifically written in such a way as to make this dream impossible. There are many treehouses in LCF that are in violation of the municipal code, however we do not believe the answer is for the community to relentlessly pursue these "violators". Rather, we seek to petition City Council to enact guidelines for proper treehouse construction, and in so doing ensure preservation of our beautiful community *and* fulfillment of our children's fondest dreams.
