Hartford’s 98% residential area Northend & Westend (Adams, Kent, Baltimore, Milford, Scarborough, Asylum Ave) strongly opposes Salvation Army Homestead Ave  Proposed Property Sale to South Park Inn Homeless Shelter Main  St Htfd. (Relocate a 100 Beds)

Neighborhood Impact :

1. Decline in Property Value

2. Fewer Economic Development Opportunities

3. Quality of Life

4. Potential for Loitering, and Criminal Behavior (Drugs,Burgulery, Violence) towards or by Prospective Homeless Residents

5. Lack Services  for the Prospective Residents (South Park Inn Homeless Shelter has access to more  services  at their current location ex. Hartford Hospital & Institute of Living

6. Effects, Residents, Youth Programs, Elementary Schools, University of Hartford, Merchants,Churches, Corporate Business, The Community

“Our focus is on jobs, and a safe, economically vibrant community. This is what we want, and this is what we deserve!”

Hartford Court of Council voted on February 14, 2022, to adopt a resolution for North Hartford; the last paragraph reads: “RESOLVED, That the City will continue to partner with its Neighborhood Revitalization Zones, community-based organizations, residents and key stakeholders in its efforts to formulate developments for increased job opportunities and improved quality of life in North Hartford.”

The proposed placement of the South Park Inn on Homestead Avenue is not fulfilling this commitment to bring in economic development that results in jobs; it detracts from it.
