Save The Bikes: Downtown Ventura

Save The Bikes: Downtown Ventura
The Issue
On Monday. June 12th, four Ventura City Council Members voted to ban Bicycling in Downtown Ventura. We want to change that.
Families, youth, and individuals need safe access to ride their bikes and skateboards in Downtown Ventura. Often times, youth don't have resources to participate in team sports. The only options for inclusion in healthy lifestyle athleticism is recreational sports such as Biking and Skateboarding. We need to encourage healthy social opportunities by providing safe access with Bike Lanes in Downtown Ventura.
There are people that have pain when walking, and bicycling can mitigate this pain. It also provides access to shopping and enjoying our beautiful city. This will foster quality of life and inclusion. The Cool Breeze Century Ride brings thousands of tourists from surrounding areas to enjoy Ventura's cool breeze as an escape from the surrounding area's heat during the summertime. Every weekend you'll see cars with bike racks coming down the 101 and the 126 from LA, the valley, and desert area, heading for our bicycle-friendly city.
Mental health and addiction are a community crisis. Studies have shown that physical activity creates feelings of wellbeing and aids people in recovery, providing naturally-sustained feel-good brain chemistry. Teenagers need to belong to a healthy lifestyle culture that helps keep them out of trouble. Biking may be their only option. Biking is a great family bonding activity. We must provide access for this cultural experience in our city's downtown.
We must act now to prevent losing our right to ride our bikes. Please fight for our rights by signing this petition and share via text, social media, or word-of-mouth. In addition, we will be holding weekly rallies every Saturday, Downtown Ventura with signs and banners demanding a Bike Lane on Main.
