Save our NC Year Round Schools

"The state's budget bill currently being negotiated includes a provision that would eliminate "single track" year round schools like Pearsontown, Easley and Rogers-Herr (as well as others throughout the state).

DPS announced their opposition to this change in part because it would be logistically impossible to effectively implement before the July start of the new school year (not to mention the burden imposed on parents):
"A provision in the state Senate’s budget would have a huge impact on DPS’s year-round schools if the state House agrees to it. Only “multi-track” year-round schools such as those in Wake County, which serve additional students on a rotating schedule, would be allowed to continue to operate on a year-round calendar according to the Senate budget. This would affect Pearsontown Elementary, Easley Elementary, Rogers-Herr Middle, and The School for Creative Studies for the upcoming school year.
DPS and our school board oppose this change and the serious inconveniences it would place on our families, to say nothing of the upheaval it would cause our schools. Please share your concerns with your legislators in the House and Senate;..." sign this petition.
