Why this petition matters

Started by Rhona Grant

There is a proposal by Health and Social Care Moray to permanently close the GP surgeries in both Burghead and Hopeman.
They closed both in March 2020 due to covid and we have had no surgeries since then to the detriment of all our communities.

Their proposal is to expand the Lossiemouth surgery and have everyone travel there.

This is a 4 hour round journey on the bus, while you are ill. other suggestions are using dial a bus (which has to be booked the day before) or the Hopeman community bus.
All these proposals involve traveling with other ill people and long wait times.

Burghead, Cummingston and Hopeman are villages with expanding populations and more houses being built.

We feel it is so much better for the health of our communities to have a GP visit the local surgeries than have so many people making  long journeys in all weathers whilst ill.

We are also facing losing our valuable nursing services, having to travel for tests, blood tests and dressings.

This is not something that is being done FOR us, it’s being done TO us.
