Lockers in Baldwin County School Systems remain unused while our Children's backs are being damaged.

   Every school day our children are carrying backpacks in excess of 20lbs from class to class. Some of these children then have to carry those backpacks on long walks from where they are dropped off to their homes. Add to that a lunch and a musical instrument and the weight becomes more than adult would want to carry for more than a few feet. 

   Lockers are already in place that could be used let children ease their burden by getting items not immediately needed off of their backs. The lockers have been paid for installed long ago, why not use them they way they were intended?

   Along with the signatures on this petition, I will be gathering reports used in other school districts by other concerned parents and teachers to change policies in their own schools. These reports and studies will show how irreparable damage can be done to children's bodies by them carrying these loads day in, day out. 

   With your help, I am sure we can this policy changed and provide a healthier environment for our children and students.
