The debate goes on. Despite stinking of corruption the state government defies a Supreme court order to retain rail infrastructure and has started ripping out infrastructure only leaving the tracks. NSW Gov intend to cut the rail at Wickham, solving no traffic issues particularly at Hannell St Gates or Hamilton Gates.

Despite public outrage and issues surrounding lack of storage room at Wickham to hold trains not being used; desperate "who stands to gain?" businessmen and politicians are now scrambling to finalise the whole process.
Desperately trying to push the cut off through it has been suggested that Sydney to Newcastle trains will cease at Broadmeadow Station. 6.2 km from Newcastle City Centre; 1 hour 17 mins walk or 23 mins by Bus.

This will kill Newcastle. The rail is not a problem, it's nothing that 2 high level crossings or an underpass could not fix. Where else do you see level crossings in a major city?

We do not need even more buses and cars in Newcastle when there is already congestion and limited parking.Traffic lights delay traffic just as much as rail if not more than rail.

The plan is to move the CBD to Newcastle West then there is less reason to cut the train line. Newcastle was a thriving city before WITH a train line. Hunter Street cannot compete with shopping centres.

This is a waste of time and money!
