The purpose of this petition titled "Save Newborn Hips" is to add to the standard of care for newborns. Specifically this new standard can help diagnose Hip Dysplasia. If caught early on infants can wear a brace to correct the hip or both hip joints preventing surgery. 

As a mother I was completely unprepared for Hip Dysplasia, I had never heard of it until my child was diagnosed "late" and the brace was not an option. This website link below has great information and stastics:

For me it's been exactly 1 year since my child's surgery. I was not prepared that the healing process can take up to 5 years and or possibly multiple surgeries. All of which could have been avoided if an ultrasound of the hips was standard of care for newborns. I am asking and urging, please sign. To help make ultrasound of infant hips a new standard to be adopted within the USA.
