Our librarian, Ms. Johnson, is being fired for a a series of miscommunications regarding a school trip that she chaperoned. While on this trip, Ms. Johnson was expected to lead a group of 30 people and did so in a way that ensured the safety of her students while facilitating a relationship built on both trust and personal growth. This trust was distorted and exaggerated by one person’s perspective, though this trip only exposed us to the realistic chaos associated with New York City. Every other student that went on this trip agreed that it was the most valuable and eye-opening experience, one that we owe fully to Ms. Johnson. Ms. Johnson is the only teacher that fosters both intellectual learning and maturity by discussing topics central to daily life that other teachers are unable to have, as she has a unique bond with her students. Her willingness to have these conversations are indispensable as a teacher and her knowledge about our library is irreplaceable. Please sign this petition if you agree that Ms. Johnson should not be fired without the administration having all of the evidence, as her positive and refreshing perspective is invaluable to our school community.
