The pro-pool Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association's Board of Directors is hosting an All-Candidates Meeting for Park Board Candidates.

This is an excellent and important opportunity to find out where Park Board candidates stand on the proposed Mount Pleasant Pool! It's so important that Park Board follow it's own unanimously-approved "decision-making" master plan, VanPlay. Their own classification system means that Mount Pleasant Park is classed as a "local park" that attracts neighbourhood residents (not the rest of the city!) and offers less than 4 mostly-passive amenities. The park already has at least four amenities!

VanPlay also notes that park space per person has decreased by a third, and Goal #2 singles out Mt.Pleasant and our surrounding neighbourhoods as those with the lowest greenspace in the city. We need to protect this precious park!

Please come out to meet the candidates, and ask some hard questions so we know who will help us protect the park. Doors open at 6:30pm to mingle with candidates, then the meeting is 7-9pm.

PS. Today (Sept 18) is Car Free Day on Main Street. The pro-pool Vancouver Society for the Promotion of Outdoor Pools (likely disguised as the Community Centre Association) will have a table between 11th and 12th Avenue. Stop by and tell them what you think of the pool!
