Save Maggie's Bridge!

Save Maggie's Bridge!
Why this petition matters
Help our Conservation Group in North Lanarkshire put pressure on Scottish Government agencies to restore and re-open historic Maggie's Bridge on the Monkland Canal. It dates from 1794 and was a waggonway crossing - saved later by Maggie, a local woman who realised its value as a community link. Now a Scheduled Monument, it is 'shockingly neglected' and some masonry has fallen into the canal - causing the bridge closure for several years now and spoiling an 'all abilities' path circuit.
Conserving Maggie's Bridge will transform connectivity on foot or cycle and give better access to the green outdoors - for 'buggy mums', the elderly, people with disabilities, and cycle learners. More people than ever are seeking green places here for exercise and reflection.
Sign up to restore and reopen this wee bridge by helping to raise £200,000 for its conservation that will transform our paths network and wellbeing here.
