In 2015 i was working at a supermarket (asda chapeltown) where i had been working there as a floor assistant/checkout operator/carpark attendent, due to my lack of understanding & support network based around day to day living with a diagnosis of Autism i found it extremely overwhelming , paying bills/ shopping ect i soon found myself heading down a spiral staircase & onto the streets

With the rise in bills, gas/electric prices, food & fueling out transport to get around to do our main priorities such as taking our kids to school, having to chose if we put the heating on or food on the table its a catastrophic chain of events that will put many on our streets, homeless isnt a life choice sadly for msny its a chain of events, with the feeling of isolation, vulnerable, emptyness & self worth with many dealing with addiction, its an uphill struggle with no end in site.

With 1 act of kindness to others we together united in solidarity can bring along change, in December 2021 together with the homeless charity SHELTER we embarked on a petition to bring in the homeless theough the pandemic, the result was 29,000 signitures & £28milion in support fund so the government as shown it can be done through the challangeing time, to bring a homeless person in of the streets, to put a warm mewl on the table, a warm bed, an individual support package around there needs & challangers they face, putting them in touch with a GP/ dental practice are all that is needed to put somone on the rite path,

If we are to continue on this dark path of allowing chanfe not to happen then its inevitable the result - family's been evicted, mental health on the rise & a crisis that will be a breaking point

Why now the time to act?

Homelessess isnt a choice we make a school as a child when the teacher asks when we grow up were & who & what we want to be are we willing as a society to allow the next generation to fall when orhers have previously walked that path & lessons could of been learned, sadly it can be 1 event or a change of events that can put a individual/ family into termoil, with Christmas looming just around the corner lets all just for a moment ask if someone we knew from the past/present needed support from eachover, now is the time to make a change & begin to abolish homeless for good & mske a stand to bring the concrete foundation we need
