Linacre College wants to change its name to Thao College, following a donation of £155million from Madame Thao, a Vietnamese billionaire who has made much of her fortune from Sovico (which includes VietJet, a low budget airline in Vietnam, who have been fined for flying with air hostesses dressed in bikinis) and who apparently "retains close links with the Kremlin" (https://moneyweek.com/economy/people/604092/nguyen-thi-phuong-thao-vietnams-airline-billionaire-rides-high  

Linacre College intends to petition to Privy Council to change their name to Thao College, "in honour" of Madame Thao - a benefactor whose ego predicates that the college will only receive the donation in return for changing its name.  Linacre "consulted" 50 hand-picked alumni, on the advice of the Privy Council, to support their petition to the Privy Council, but we believe that past & present students of Linacre, of Oxford, as well as people across the wider global community, DO NOT SUPPORT this name change, as it will serve as a precedent that all UK Colleges are essentially for sale to the highest bidder.  

We, the Undersigned, wish to petition the Privy Council to BLOCK the proposed name change, to save Linacre, and our other prized colleges from being purchased at will by the highest bidder.
