SAVING LAURELTON ACRES
Laurelton Acres is a very small neighborhood in Brick, New Jersey consisting of approximately one hundred (100) homes. It is located at the intersection of Route 70 and Chambers Bridge Road.
There are only two (2) entry/exit points. One is located off of Route 70, specifically, Pier Avenue. The other is located off of Chambersbridge Road, specifically, Salmon Street. Both Route 70 and Chambersbridge Road are heavily traveled day and night, seven (7) days a week . Traffic is heightened during the holidays and the Summer season to the point that there is a sign board instructing vehicles where to go to keep the traffic flowing. In addition to a sign board, there are some occasions that the Township of Brick has police officers on post controlling the traffic signals.
Traffic is already a major problem outside of our very tiny neighborhood without the upcoming Sports Center; Grocery Store; Restaurant with a Liquor License; and a Bank and/or Small Store. With that being said, we have now been notified that the former Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home located at 109 Pier Avenue, Brick, New Jersey has been sold to Temple Beth Or who has made an application to convert the building into a religious facility/place of assembly which is a non-conforming use in this zone.
This is detrimental to our neighborhood as it will create a hazard by creating more traffic in our neighborhood. As previously stated our neighborhood is very small. There are no sidewalks and there is no playground. There are numerous families in Laurelton Acres with children who ride their bikes in the neighborhood. The children play outside of their home in the neighborhood as there is no playground. There are numerous families in Laurelton Acres whom have pets that they walk in the neighborhood. This increase in traffic puts our neighborhood at jeopardy and will take away from our quality of life by endangering our families, children, and pets by adding increased traffic to our streets.
Please sign the Petition to protect our neighborhood. It cannot advocate for itself.
Please appear for the application hearing scheduled to be heard by the Brick Township Zoning Board of Adjustment on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 401 Chambersbridge Road, Brick, New Jersey.
