Kilvey Hill is rich with ancient monuments, Mountain Bike Trails including National Marked trails, an active Community Woodland with nature areas where Bushcraft days for local children provided free and regular community events including the popular Christmas Tree event. There is even a roundhouse being built for use by the community. This woodland has been maintained by a group of volunteers for many years. Now Swansea Council in partnership with Skyline propose to build a Gondola ride with visitor centre and several concrete paths for luge runs taking up great swathes of the hill. This will eradicate all bike trails and most of the area of the Community Woodland. There are of course mixed feelings as Swansea deserves regeneration but, should it be at the expense of our green space, wildlife and areas of archeological significance. Not to mention the impact on traffic congestion during and after the build as there is no scope to widen Fabian Way or Foxhole which is where access would be for the site and afterwards the Park and Ride at Landore would be closed in favour of parking for this development causing more carnage for residents especially on a match day.
