Why this petition matters

Addiction and Alcoholism is a plague that’s tearing apart our population in larger and larger numbers every year. Unfortunately, It’s a largely under-serviced and under represented portion of the population. Not enough attention has been brought to this epidemic that affects countless individuals. There aren’t enough places where people can go to get the help they need to change their lives.

Just Believe Recovery Center in Carbondale, Pennsylvania is one of the few places that people with addiction or alcoholism can go. Since opening, JBRC has made huge strides in changing peoples lives, not only in Pennsylvania but across the country. In fact, during the COVID pandemic, several other local facilities were declining services to people in need of help unless they had private insurance or were willing to pay out of pocket. The average cost of these services, in Pennsylvania, to the individual range anywhere from $1500-$3500 per day. However, the owner of JBRC was allowing people with no insurance coverage or ability to pay the opportunity to recover and get the help they need. Since opening the facility, it has been the owners mission statement to help all those in need from all walks of life. This has continued through today, as the economy gets worse and prices for everything from consumer goods to gas continue to increase.

Recently, due to unforeseen circumstances, Lackawanna County has decided to evict JBRC from the premises at 100 Lincoln Ave in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Anyone who has a family member or has suffered themselves from this terrible disease knows that this would be a disastrous blow to the communities of addicts and alcoholics we serve every day.

We are trying to get this eviction overturned to allow us to continue to operate. Despite our best efforts, it seems as if our pleas are falling on deaf ears. Please sign this petition to show our local politicians, judges and community that together, we stand behind this staple of the recovery community and the mission of helping provide a better way of life for everyone.
