Hof's Hut Restaurant Bixby Knolls is immediately threatened with demolition! This location of Hof's Hut, on the 4200 block of Long Beach Boulevard in the City of Long Beach, was designed by master architect Edward Killingsworth and opened in 1960. It served as a popular community gathering spot for 55 years until a fire forced its closure in 2015. The building has been assessed by conservation professionals and restoration is feasible and economically viable, yet a demo permit has been granted. The owners and city of Long Beach need to hear from you! Sign the petition to let them know you support restoration of the Killingworth design for a restaurant or another viable business.
- City of Long Beach
Do not demolish the former Hof's Hut located at 4251 Long Beach Blvd in Bixby Knolls. While Hof's Hut will not return, restoration of the original Edward Killingsworth design is feasible and another restaurant or business could occupy the space. This is a significant building for its association with a master architect and its importance to the community as a popular gathering spot for 55 years. Please, halt the demolition process until preservation alternatives have been explored.
