Why this petition matters

Started by Eboney Thompson

Right now the current age requirement for women to get a mammogram is 40 years old. Currently, the insurance companies are trying to push the age to age 45 even 50. 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their life, with 9%-10% of these cases the woman will be under the age of 40.

Each year more and more younger women are diagnosed and those of color are diagnosed in a later stage. I was one of them. In 2018 at the age of 37, I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer (meaning it had spread to other parts of my body). I was misdiagnosed (which is becoming more common as well) at age 35. And as I have researched there are and have been women younger than me that have been diagnosed.

Every October companies raise money for research but why aren't we fighting for EARLIER prevention and treatment? And this is where my fight and your participation come in. By signing this petition you will be helping fight for the women that came before me, the women who are fighting with me, and the women coming after me. Signing this shows that you support the age limit dropping or even being eliminated so that women can get mammograms earlier to help prevent cancer or catch it in an earlier stage and their insurance pays for it.

Please sign and share and send prayers as I not only fight for my life but fight for the lives of others!!
