WARNING: LARGEST UK URBAN BATTERY STORAGE PLANT COMING TO GREEN BELT SITE NEAR HOMES ON CITY FIELDS AND HISTORIC HEATH COMMON

THIS IS FOR PROFIT - NOT SUSTAINABIILITY.

Harmony Energy has submitted plans to WMDC to build a 99.9 MW-battery energy storage facility on 18 acres of green belt across the green fields close to the Grade 2 Listed Lady Bolles Tower - and just metres away from homes on City Fields development and the existing travellers' site.

On a 40-year lease.

This battery storage energy site will use Lithium-Ion batteries that will be stored in at least 60 shipping container-sized units built onto a concrete bed. The site will be surrounded by a 2.4m security fence, have emergency lighting and integrated noise pollution measures to mitigate the constant hum AND the maximum height of the transformer units is 8m high.

They are attempting to greenwash this. There is no evidence of any green credentials. No proof and never will be that this will harness wind or solar. Harmony Energy has yet to approach any UK energy provider.

THIS IS TO MAKE MONEY. SIMPLE AS.

The money they are offering to WMDC in business rates (£150k) the £10k a year to community groups, plus what they are paying the farmer for the lease - the going rate is £1,000 per megawatt currently- every year for the duration of the lease (40 years)

This gives you some indication of the profits to be made! ££££££

In California, it is understood the law states battery storage facilities should be at least one mile from people's homes for fire and health safety fears. There have been numerous fires break out worldwide in these battery units. including one in Liverpool 18 months ago.

PLEASE JOIN THE I LOVE HEATH COMMON CAMPAIGN TO FIGHT THIS PLAN and SHARE WIDELY WITH ANYONE WHO HAS EVER ENJOYED THE HISTORIC HERITAGE GREEN LANDSCAPE OF HEATH COMMON
