Multi-disciplinary programs are so rare to see and this seems like the perfect blend. I love how therapists get to work closely with teachers! Even though the Connections for Students (CFS) program exist, a lot is lost through communicating through the CFS worker, why not have therapists work directly with teachers? This just makes sense.

How and why are you shutting down this much needed school? Are not our children our greatest assets, our little ambassadors to doing what is right for building a better future and a better Canada? Do we not have the responsibility of helping them achieve their full potential? And hasn’t the current socioeconomic climate proven that we all have a responsibility to uphold fairness and equality for all? Especially our governments? There is a very large body of scientific research that proves that autistic children are directly affected by negative experiences within the educational system. For life. Without Giant Steps, many children and families will absolutely suffer, and will have nowhere to turn to. Our educational system needs to change, and until it does, specialized schools are absolutely a necessity. Please, do what is right and keep Giant Steps open ❤️

Every child, no matter the need, should be able to access education to help them manoeuvre through life the best way possible. YRDSB constantly talks to its staff about equity in the classroom and every child. But when It leaves a segment of the population it serves out , this is not equitable! Shame on them!

Giant Steps has made a huge difference in my friend’s son’s life. I hope it will remain a viable support organization for families affected by Autism.
