Why this petition matters

Started by Emily Patterson

Hi all,

Would really appreciate your help in saving my garden.

Basically I installed a small fence made of 7 pallets screwed together in a open comunial garden in 2020, this was to keep my dog who is dead, and suffering with arthritis. It also helped me feel safe in my home while going through domestic abuse as now there is only 3 entry/exits to my property instead of 8. Now it was made of pallets so it is totally free standing and could be removed when the time comes. I've mantained the area inside the fence to an exceptionally high standard and probably better than my housing associations own groundsman. In the 2 years it's been up I have grown a variety of fruit and vegetables which I distribute around the my neighbours at no cost. For some it's a lifeline with the cost of living crisis, this is the only fresh produce they get.

My housing association westkent, are asking me to take the fence down as it's not conventional, to which I have said I will put in a conventional one, to witch knowone can authorize. I'm being passed from pilla to post around a number of people and getting knowhere. As someone who suffers with mental health issues and addiction this is not ideal. Expecialy as my housing association have previously fenced off comunial areas for sole use for mental health issues and the area being so open. I feel this is discrimination and I'm being singled out. I love my little sanctuary and it has been a blessing in my recovery.

So please help me fight
