Save countless of lives! Change the "R" rating of "Bully" to PG-13!

The Issue

We recently heard that the Motion Picture Association of America rated the documentary “Bully” an “R” due to profanity within the film. The film documents the lives of many American children across the nation who are constantly being bullied. The “R” rating restricts those under 17 from watching the film without parental consent. This means that the target audience, children, mainly middle and high school students, cannot view the film. The profane language in the film does not justify depriving middle and high school students of viewing a presentation that could potentially revolutionize their lives, and even save them from life or death situations. The difference between the two ratings is the potential number of lives that could be saved upon the release of this film. If enough people speak up, we can potentially persuade the MPAA to change the rating to PG-13, so all of those who need to view the documentary the most will have the utmost opportunity to do so. The difference could be a life, a hundred lives, or tons upon tons of lives.

Please sign this petition to urge the MPAA to rate the documentary “Bully” PG-13 in order to give the target audience, middle and high school students, the highest chance of being shown this film.

Thank you very much!
Ashley Ta, Kelly Luu, and Barry Weickert
