Save Carver High School started this petition to Carver High School Historical Preservation Society and

Our goal is to preserve and restore the historic Carver High School buildings #1 and #12 and adapt them to serve the community as Academic/Vocational/Technical Skills Center as well as use for neighborhood and city-wide functions.

Carver High School’s outstanding leaders and achievements date back to 1895 (when it was called School No. 4 Delray Colored) and have left an indelible mark on the history of Delray Beach. It is one of the last remaining public buildings that embodies the academic, athletic, historic and cultural achievements of the city’s African American citizens.

We are The Carver High School Historical Society, a broad-based community organization (501(c)(3) non-profit designation pending), established to preserve and promote Carver High School’s legacy as a center for academic and personal excellence.

We want to have Carver High School buildings #1 and #12 restored and added to the Delray Beach Local Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places, which would make the school eligible for a state grant of up to $500,000.

We want to establish and strengthen collaborative relationships between Village Academy, the residents of “The Set” neighborhoods of Delray Beach, the City of Delray Beach and the School District of Palm Beach County.
