Would you want a dog park next to your home or in Birchwood?  If not, please sign.

Barking, urine smell, increased traffic and parking, outside residents, new fences, mud and park erosion, dogs not vaccinated, feces left behind...

“One of the City’s priorities is the preservation of the natural charm of its existing neighborhoods and the privacy of its citizens.” Birchwood Comprehensive Plan.

Dog park committee members would like build pocket dog parks throughout Birchwood. There is a list of 4 or 5 potential areas. Not one single area is exclusive of homes. Every area in Birchwood has a home that a dog park would affect. We do not want to do that to any of our fellow neighbors. The thought of looking out our windows, seeing people and dogs all day would be upsetting. Noise, smell, dogs barking, litter…I am not sure who would ever want that! Committee members even agreed they would not want one by their homes!! Plus no budget was ever given to committee members. Where is the money coming from?

Fix What We Already Have -- Spend the money on fixing paths, beaches, parks and docks that are in desperate need.

People WILL come from neighboring communities to use pocket dog parks. Parking and more cars is not what Birchwood needs. Could crime increase?

We are NOT a community with secluded, open land available. Near by dog parks (Stillwater and Woodbury) are easy to get to and very large…and far away from residents.   Urine and dog waste in the summer is not what neighboring houses would want when out cooking and entertaining.

Let's save Birchwood from a mess!
