Hi Everyone.

I am starting this petition because the future of Ballinasloe and Tuam pools are at risk of closure.

The closure of these two facilities would be devastating for the local commuinity's and surrounding areas, the family's that use them and local businesses.

People from  every age group and all walks of life benefit from these facilities.

During these uncertain times a place to go where you can find routine, purpose, friendly staff, and a sense of belonging to something great can have no price put on it.

If the pools are closed, money that is spent in the local businesses due to people travelling to these towns for the pools will be lost. The knock on effect will see many businesses in the area suffer.

There Is so much talk of mental well being these days and the two facilities at Ballinasloe and Tuam are not just Leisure centres, they are places where young adults can meet friends, make friends, and feel good about themselves.

Anyone who has used Ballinasloe or Tuam swimming pool will know that the staff that work there are irreplaceable, they go above and beyond to make people welcome, they know everyone who use the facility often by name, the welcome you get is like no other facilities anywhere else.

The Swimming teachers and staff are amazing role models for our young children growing up in such an uncertain world.

Young children in the clubs are not just training, they are learning about respect for others, resilience, overcoming hurdles, working hard towards goals and many other life skills.

Closing down a facility where so many people and families have been part of for years and years would be a devastating loss for the community's.

In these times when its so hard to be together, closing two facilities where people can go to feel like they belong to something great,  would just be heart breaking.

Please sign our petition to prevent this loss to our communities.

Thank you for taking the time to read our concerns.
