Decision Maker Response
Elizabeth May’s response
Sep 18, 2015 — The Green Party shares your frustration with the plan to diminish the wolf population in the South Selkirk Mountains and the South Peace. The endangered caribou in the region must certainly be protected, but killing wolves and upsetting the natural ecosystem is a heavy-handed and ineffective approach. The BC government has failed to adequately protect caribou habitat. As you’ve noted, this wolf management plan will not correct the problem at the source of the dwindling caribou population. We must invest in habitat protection before resorting to killing wolves.
