Stricter Drunk Drugged Driving Sentences for Texas
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
We demand that the Great State of Texas enact harsher Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) laws.
Especially those that result in loss of life. The current laws in Texas are not concise leaving sentences up to the judges and or jury without thought to the victims left behind.
We call on the Great State of Texas to lead the nation with penalties that will show that Drunk / Drugged Driving will not be tolerated. Enacting penalties that consider the victims / survivors of such cases.
We ask for penalties of:
1st offense loss of Driving privileges for 5 years and up to a year in jail and mandatory participation in a community outreach program that deals with the victims/survivors of DWI offensives
2nd offense double the punishment of the 1st offense unless offender is in violation of the 1st offense then 3 years with minimum of 1.5 years to be served before parole release with participation in community outreach program dealing with victims/ survivors of DWI offensives
3rd offense 5 years in jail for habitual offenders with a minimum to be served of 3 years. Permanent loss of driving privileges. With participation in community outreach program dealing with victims/ survivors of DWI offensives.
If any of the offense results in bodily harm to another being a 10 year sentence with a minimum of 4 years to be served before parole consideration. With parole offender must participate in community outreach program for victims/survivors of the offense.
If the offense results in loss of life a minimum of 20 year sentence with no parole for a minimum of 5 years and mandatory participation in a community outreach program that deals with the victims/survivors of DWI offensives.
It is our belief that implementation of stricter penalties will help the many victims/survivors of these crashes as well as showing The nation that Texas will no longer accept Irresponsible behavior without consequences
