Pointe des Chens Campground is a city jewel and should not be closed. 

‘The Pointe,’ as it is affectionately know as, is one of two very well used campgrounds in the city and the only public beach.  And is operated by the Lions Club 

City residents at no charge use the beach and parks and it is the envy of other municipalities.  Other Mayors, Reeves and parks department chairs, have looked with envy on our city and the park and campground with a beach in the city limits.   

Pointe des Chenes has a beautiful sand beach and large open spaces.  It has feel of a tropical island where the view of a summer sunset is spectacular. 

And to further that, the Lions Campground is the most wonderful place for children to experience family camping, the out doors, and develop friendships.  The Lions cater to kids activities and have developed programs to that end.  To watch this take place every summer is heart warming. 

The Lions Club has made an excellent attempted to keep it operating at capacity for over 38 years.  So instead of shutting down during COVID the city should be supporting the club and the parks.
