Stop the Southampton Snowmobile Club from getting permission to drive snowmobiles and ATVs across the pedestrian bridge over Mill Creek and use the Rail Trail within Port Elgin’s town limits. If the barriers are removed, the vehicles will be a danger to pedestrians, many of whom include our senior citizens, and their dogs. Snowmobiles and ATVs cause excessive noise and gas fumes which affect all the residents who border the rail trail. Riders performing stunts create gouges in the ground, making the ground uneven and thus a danger for pedestrians and cyclists and damaging small trees, shrubs, and grasses. The trail should be reserved for pedestrians and bicycles.
