Our safety and well being will be jeopardized by any attempts to reduce funding to our police department. The vast majority of law enforcement officers are doing a great job. We need to show them our support while encouraging even better policing practices. The ongoing rioting and lawlessness we have observed elsewhere, with its accompanying loss of life and property, under the guise of legitimate protests, should be a wake up call to maintain law and order. The overwhelming majority of officers are dedicated to protecting and serving the public. While the services of other agencies may be needed in some situations, they are not trained or capable of dealing with the harsh realities of crime, from murders and violent assaults to robberies, house invasions, tragic accidents, and domestic disputes. The police need our encouragement and support, not abuse and derision. I, personally, would like to live in a city where I feel safe in my home and safe to walk down any street in any neighbourhood, rather than living in fear. It makes no sense to reduce the money available to train police and to carry out their duties. Common sense and logic should dictate public policy, not radical ideology.
