Help Increase Psychologists in Sask by Allowing Yorkville U to be a Recognized University

We are students at Yorkville University who wish to have YU accepted by the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists.
Under the false presumption that students attending YU would become registered psychologists in Saskatchewan, many of us continued our education. Unfortunately, many of the students living in Saskatchewan are considering moving to Alberta, lessening the presence of counsellors in our province.
As well, with a limited amount of universities being accepted by the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists, it makes programs very competitive. Due to this, programs such as at the U of S accept less than 10% of their applicants. For example, at the U of S in 2017, only 5 out of 65 students were accepted into the program. Not only are programs competitive, the program at Athabasca University is very similar to Yorkville. The only difference is Athabasca is a public university.
This is more than moving forward with our career, it is about helping the individuals seeking mental health treatment get help instead of being another number on a wait list. Please help us make a difference for all individuals who are seeking mental health treatment by signing this petition to show the College of Psychologists in Saskatchewan the need for more universities to be recognized in Saskatchewan.
