Austin Leclaire (13) and Max Leclaire (10) were both born with the same disease for which there is no cure. Max, was accepted into a clinical trial with Sarepta Therapeutics while Austin was denied as he can no longer walk. It became very clear Max was on the drug and making tremendous strides with muscle recovery. Austin has continued to deterioate and no longer has the strength to drive his go-cart around. Sarepta Therapeutics refuses to allow Austin the same access to the drug as his younger brother and watches selflessly from the sidelines as Max gains back lost strength. While they do need to do continual research to determine all side effects of the drug, Austin deserves the same chance as his brother to lead a better quality life.
