Change for the Saraland School System Carline Procedures

This petition made change with 25 supporters!

As a parent of Saraland Elementary School, we want to voice our concerns & frustrations over the recurring issues with the carline procedures. The layout as well as the execution of the carline is not only frustrating but not efficient. We as parents believe there is a better way to move cars through the line faster, more effective & safer for our students.

The current carline procedures create the following problems:

1) Creates a huge traffic problem on adjoining streets & makes it a safety hazard for public service vehicles as well as other traffic on the road.

2) Too many lines at one time dropping off/picking up students. Not only is it time consuming to flow that many vehicles, but it also does not allow the teachers working carline to keep an eye on all students entering vehicles if an abductor/un-approved person picks up a child.

3) Teachers & faculty cannot access the facility unless going through carline as well as parents needing to access the office have to travel through the line. In case of emergency, there is no access to the front office without going through the line.

4) Families that have multiple students at multiple schools cannot pick up their children in the allotted amount of time because of the current speed of the carline procedures.

We, as concerned parents of the Saraland School System, want change for our carline procedures. We would like to have a meeting with the school board about change of the procedures to address the afore mentioned concerns. We would also like a professional traffic engineer to come out to evaluate the best possible way to flow traffic in & out of the school.
