Monique Calatayud was a student at Santa Susana High School and she was doing quite good academically before her home life started to get unbearable and abusive. Her family had always been neglectful but last school year it became such a big problem it interfered with her commitment to school. Monique ended up getting kicked out of her house, and obviously with the fear she had for her guardians she was too afraid to return home when she was told. She went to live with family out of state, turned 18, got three jobs to make a living for herself, and finished high school despite her personal setbacks. Despite all this being so hard on her, she still managed to both build a life for herself and be a friend and a mentor to all who knew her at Santa Susana. I believe she deserves to walk with what should have been her graduating class of 2018, because being mistreated shouldn't have taken that opportunity away from her. Of course it's nontraditional, walking without being given a diploma, but with all the trauma shes endured, I believe she's earned it. Please help Monique experience a proper graduation.
