Santa Monica High School's faculty has recently given us the information regarding 2022's senior prom.  They are planning to charge a price of $115, which includes food, photo booth, DJ, and some other activities.

The menu consists of fish, sliders, chicken salad, Caesar salad, fries, and cupcakes.  An ample amount of Santa Monica students have dietary restrictions, whether it is being vegetarian, vegan, lactose intolerant, or gluten free.  The only food accessible to vegetarians at this event will be Caesar salad, and cupcakes.  For vegans, there will be nothing.

According to the American Dietetic Association, "appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits."  Without the opportunity to ingest diverse food groups, it is hard to live a healthy plant-based lifestyle. 

To pay $115 for the scarce food options offered is absurd.  At an event as momentous as senior prom, we want to see an introduction of diverse food options that benefit all of our student body.
