On February 26, 17 year old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. Trayvon was walking on the sidewalk on the way from a convenience store.

It's reported that the teen was staying with his father in a gated community The Retreat at Twin Lakes. Zimmerman, a Neighborhhod Watch Captain, claims self defense. Reports say he got out of his car and shot Travon Martin in the chest, killing him.

According to reports, the police department has not arrested Zimmerman and has refused to release the 911 tape. The call reportedly indicates that the dispatcher told Zimmerman to do nothing and wait for police. 

When police arrived, they found a bag of candy and a can of an iced tea on Trayvon's lifeless body. Nothing more.

As a parent and as an American, I want to know why this young man went to the store never to return home again. I more want to know why there has been no arrest. We should all be concerned as it could happen to anyone. Or anyone's child...
