It has been years since the Chattahoochee river has been dredged which has caused a build-up of silt along the River Run Area. This has led to the river becoming very shallow, creating a large flood zone. Each year, heavy rains cause the river to rise past its banks, damaging the surrounding homes and businesses. If you live along the river, chances are you have seen the effects of this flooding. St. Andrew Rowing Club now regularly sustains flood damage to its boathouse facilities, including trailers, docks, power boat engines and even lost shells. As a volunteer nonprofit organization, this is both very disruptive and costly.  By regularly dredging the river, time and money can be saved while simultaneously creating a safer, more usable river for everyone to enjoy.
