Good towns need good parks and open spaces. The area has been used by local residents and visitors for many years for dog walking, exercise, quiet contemplation, and play.
The area is home to a number of protected species including bats, and badgers. It also supports a declining bird species some of which are on the red list, they are those with the highest conservation priority and needing urgent action.
There are a number of trees and shrubs which provide a home and habitat for these creatures that the council propose to cut down and replace with new trees. This proposal to change the use threatens to destroy and disrupt the habitat and ecosystem.
We believe it is an important link in the green matrix for biodiversity and a community asset that should remain unchanged and open to the public and their well behaved pets at all times.
We call on Sandwell Council to stop this proposed extention and save our green space for future generations.
We would also urge you to write to Sandwell MBC to object to these harmful proposals.
Please sign this petition now and call on the council to reconsider there plans and find another site for the cemetery.
