[Please share with family, friends, students, community, etc!!]

After a long week of in person learning, the San Lorenzo School District's superintendent sent an email out that stated: "School is the safest place to be for students right now." However, that is not even close to the truth. With the rising cases of omicron, students are terrified to go to school. We are urging the district to consider remote learning for the week of January 10 to January 14, 2022 OR the following week after.

We the students, are in a crisis. We never know when the virus is going to strike us first. This week alone it feels like half of our schools are gone. The above photo shows a classroom from last week, it's usually a class of 30-40 students but nearly no one is there due to COVID. The district is telling parents that we are following COVID-19 protocols but social distancing does not even exist in classrooms. Teachers are practically begging for masks to be provided in their classrooms.

Let me put it in another perspective, imagine you are a student with older parents and you have to choose between going to school or possibly risking the lives of your parents. No student should ever have to make that choice and feel guilty about coming to school.

Even other districts like Hayward are going remote. All the private schools in the Bay Area are going remote. How about us? Why should we wait for every other district to do something in order to enact change?

To the district, we thank you for providing us tests and supplies but it is nearly not enough. Please consider remote learning for a week. If not remote learning please be more transparent with us. We are terrified to go to school. Our lives are more valuable than finals.
