On June 7th, 2019, Emerald Black a  woman who had just miscarried , and her fiance were pulled over by police officers after coming from a doctors appointment. The officers spoke to Ms. Black's fiance while she stayed in the car. Emerald tried to show the officers her ID card.  The officers pulled their guns out on her. The officers yanked Ms. Black, still in her hospital clothes, and threw her to the ground. They taunted her, piled on top of her, and stomped on her stomach. The stomp had  also left a shoe mark.

Because of the abhorrent attacks done by the police, Ms. Black suffered not only physical, but emotional injuries.

In the video footage released, the police act very unnecessary and violent towards emerald. Had this been a white couple, the police would have let them go.

Clearly, the police need better training on how to handle situations properly. People were harmed and arrested  for no reason.

So we are demanding that the city of San Leandro address and fix these issues. Hold the officers accountable !!

It has also been discovered that Emerald had miscarried prior to the encounter. So even though she did not as a result of the police, the police were still very violent and treated Emerald as a criminal.

Edit: It is also important to note that she was not a suspect to any crime and she clearly did not commit any either.

Edit: I would like to thank everyone who has signed this so far. The fight has not ended, justice has yet to be served.  Please keep sharing her story and share this petition. We shall not give up until justice is brought to Emerald and her Fiance.
