The only off-leash dog park in San Leandro is at the Marina and Oyster Bay on the outskirts of town. The SLPD have called out the problem of residents using School playgrounds for dogs off-leash.

"We have received complaints regarding dogs off-leash at local schools on their playground and field areas.
We just want to send out a reminder that San Leandro has a leash law, which will be enforced. If your dog needs an open space to run around and exercise off-leash, please take your dog to a local dog park that is fenced in and where they are able to run around freely. (Marina Dog Park, Monarch Bay Dr.)
This is for the safety of our residents, visitors, and also the safety of your dog."

We think adding an off-leash dog park to central San Leandro would be a big benefit to our residents and dogs! To be able to walk your dog to a dog park rather than drive or illegally using one of the schools.
