Due to the recent surge of Covid-19 and the Omicron variant rapidly spreading throughout our community, many students at Gabrielino High School, including myself, have felt unsafe and afraid of returning back to school in person.

Over the past week, it has become quite clear that Gabrielino was not prepared to handle a Covid-19 surge in any way. As we all know, school was shut down after only two days since returning from winter break. If Gabrielino was overwhelmed with positive Covid-19 cases and contact tracing after only a mere two days, imagine the consequences that will arise if Gabrielino continues to be kept open during the current Covid-19 surge in Los Angeles County.
