San Francisco Mayor and Board of Supervisors: End Public Funding of Lobbying
THE USE OF PUBLIC FUNDS TO FINANCE SPECIAL INTEREST LOBBYING IS WRONG AND NEEDS TO END NOW.
- Mayor of San Francisco
Community Benefit Districts are funded with public money to beautify neighborhoods and improve public safety. While most money is spent appropriately, CBDs often engage in lobbying the Board of Supervisors, Commissions and other government agencies on pending legislation and policy decisions. While the positions taken by the CBD may, or may not, reflect the will of residents these organizations take action far beyond their stated goals and in ways that at times act against constituents. THE USE OF PUBLIC FUNDS TO FINANCE SPECIAL INTEREST LOBBYING IS WRONG AND NEEDS TO END NOW.
Please direct the CBDs to stop lobbying all government entities on any legislation or policy decisions and tell them they need to stick to their mission, or prepare to give up their public funding.
