David Johnson-Igra started this petition to San Francisco District 11

A pedestrian was hit by a car this morning (Oct 4, 2021) at the corner of San Jose Ave and Paulding Street. I hope and pray this person is ok.

We need a stop sign for cars on San Jose Avenue that are approaching the intersection at Paulding Street—and I'd like to ask the community to encourage Asha Safai, our District 11 supervisor, to erect one.

Please sign this petition to show our District representative that we stand together in support of this change. If you've got bandwidth, I'm sure a call or email to his office will also help. I've included his information below:

*UPDATE* Additionally, thanks to the wonderful input from our community, I've added additional emails representatives and groups for the SFMTA that should be notified.

As a neighbor who lives in District 11, I've experienced and witnessed repeatedly many instances where drivers exhibit risky behaviors at this intersection that force pedestrians or other oncoming cars to make swift decisions for self-protection. This intersection is dangerous because there's only a stop sign for oncoming traffic for cars turning onto San Jose Avenue from Paulding, but not a stop sign for the drivers on San Jose. For the drivers trying to merge from Paulding onto San Jose, because of parked cars—it can be difficult to see oncoming traffic; and, for pedestrians crossing Paulding street, you often have to pay attention to drivers on San Jose Ave turning left onto Paulding—as these drivers tend to pay more attention to oncoming traffic to make a quick left.
