Mandate human trafficking awareness training for social workers and schools

Human trafficking is the 2nd largest illegal market and is quickly expanding. It generates a profit of $32 billion every year. Traffickers are profiting off the abuse of young women and children. An example of this is Liz Williamsons' story, who at the age of 6 was sold into the sex trafficking by her mom because they were short on money. Men paid her mom to have sex with Liz, the mom actually told Liz to "smile and look pretty, do whatever he says if you love me." The San Francisco Bay Area is in the top 13 of total human trafficking cases among all cities in the nation based on FBI data. We need to bring awareness and put an end to this injustice. Our plan with this petition is to propose a law to the Board of Supervisors that would require social workers, like bus drivers and police officers, and schools to create and requires their staffs and students to take a course that teaches them the signs, effects, and how they can get involved to help end the problem.
