Amendments to Chapter 14, Article 3, Division 1, Sections 143.0110, Table 143-01A, 143.0141, and 143.0150 of the Biology Guidelines in the Environmentally Sensitive Lands Ordinance and the Land Development Manual have returned to the City Council to be heard on April 10. They include additional options for wetland deviation: the “Essential Public Project Option,” the “Economic Viability Option,” and the “Biologically Superior Option.”

Civilization has had more impact to wetlands than natural threats, and the county wetland projects haven’t been great. Vernal pool habitat fragmentation is also an issue. We also have sprawl problems.

A city at the mercy of an energy company with approval for an unnecessary and environmentally dangerous project in the desert should review its idea of an essential project. What was the economic viability of the Trolley Renewal? We don’t need more deviations.

We’ll take any opportunity to save wetlands we can get.

We, the undersigned, oppose the "Essential Public Project Option, Economic Viability Option, and Biologically Superior Option." We don't want to facilitate wetland deviation or potential undeveloped land fragmentation.
Our remaining wetlands will always be more valuable than we know. We have the infrastructure and establishments for coexistence and suggest that developers reinvest in restoring, repairing, and augmenting sustainability of existing infrastructure. Thank you for your time.
