Becka Palter started this petition to Mayor of San Diego Todd Gloria

As of October 1, the city of San Diego re-started ticketing parked cars.  This day seems to be chosen arbitrarily.  Prior to this they were only ticketing cars in the red, white and blue zones. Now they are ticketing for street sweeping, time limits and parking meters.

Sign this petition for the city to stop ticketing until there are no more COVID related restrictions on our city. (with the exception of red white and blue zones)

Although our city is not back to work, and is now heading into the purple zone, they still expect us to move cars and do not care about the financial repercussions of these tickets.  They expect us to park far away from our homes without any regards for the safety of walking at night.

Ticketing occurs disproportionately in  low income areas.  Which are also areas that lack driveways and parking availability.  By ticketing they are taking money from people that are either: 1. unable to work right now, 2. essential workers, 3. or working in very different circumstances than they ever thought plausible.

We deserve to park at the end of a long work day and not have to worry that it will cost us upwards of $50.  The people of the city of San Diego are going through enough right now, parking tickets are just cruel.
