San Carlos Good Living for All started this petition to San Carlos City Council

We are alarmed by the prospect of commercial developments that may add 6,000+ jobs to San Carlos without consideration for housing availability. Such development poses a clear and present danger to the economic security of our city’s renters and would make the cost of homes even less accessible to community members including teachers, nurses, police officers, children returning to the community from college, and virtually any current resident earning less than a sky-high salary.

We respectfully request the San Carlos City Council send a message to potential developers, within the next 45 days, telling them that things will likely be changing. Please tell them that the community will be engaging in a conversation likely leading to housing, in some way or another, being part of large commercial developments. Please also instruct city staff to reach out to such groups as nonprofits, schools, and small businesses, and invite their comments as the council engages in a community dialogue around housing availability.

We are either a San Carlos that strives to make a place for all our community members or we will become a gentrified enclave that betrays the American promise of opportunity and fairness. We choose fairness, and respectfully ask you do so as well.
