On the evening of Saturday, May 20, 2017, San Antonio police were called for an incident at a quinceanera. Although she had nothing to do with the incident police were called for, April Johnson's 14 year-old daughter was violently assaulted by a San Antonio police officer. He hit the girl multiple times and, according to the mother of the girl for whom the party was hosted, the officer exposed Ms. Johnson's daughter while arresting her and would not allow anyone to assist in covering her up. Ms. Johnson's daughter was released today, May 22nd, from Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center where she was held since her arrest on Saturday night. She is currently pending a charge of Assault on a Public Servant. Mayor Ivy Taylor has neither addressed nor acted on the incident. This officer must be held accountable for battering a child. This was an attack on all of us as a community and especially the Black community. We demand the name and badge number of this officer be released. We also demand he be fired for the assault and that criminal charges be brought against him.
